The flight duration from TIA, Kathmandu to Tenzing-Hillary airport at Lukla is about 30-40 minutes. Lukla is located at an altitude of 2860 m which is a small mountain town with a famous , narrow, and steep airport.
Customizing your own itinerary you can also choose an alternate route from Jiri which will omit the Lukla flight. This is longer route than from Lukla. You will drive from Kathmandu to Jiri at a distance of 190 kilometres in the east.
This adds an additional 5-7 days to trek from jiri to Lukla but offers a more gradual acclimatization process as trekkers walk from a lower altitude.
